Preparing for Tomorrow

[4 Years and Beyond]

As children enter their preschool years, their curiosity, confidence, and independence continue to grow. They take on greater responsibility, strengthen friendships, develop leadership skills, and build the early literacy, communication, and problem-solving skills that support future learning.

In their final year before school, children are invited to join our Te Puāwai transition-to-school programme, where they regularly visit local primary schools throughout the year. Rather than simply talking about school, children experience it firsthand — exploring classrooms, observing daily routines, interacting with teachers and students, and discovering what being a school learner is really like.

We believe school readiness is about much more than knowing letters and numbers. Through real experiences over time, children develop familiarity, confidence, and a sense of belonging before their first day arrives. This helps create smoother transitions, stronger confidence, and fewer surprises as they begin their next learning journey.
